The largest and busiest of Toronto's east-end beaches, a broad sweep of sand on Lake Ontario that draws crowds all summer. It anchors the western end of the 3-kilometre boardwalk and connects to a wide swathe of parkland with volleyball courts, an Olympic-size outdoor pool, and the Martin Goodman cycling trail running behind it.
The water is monitored for swimming in season, though the lake is cold; most people come for the sand, the views, and the long flat stretch for walking and cycling. It is the heart of the Beaches in summer and surprisingly empty out of season, when the boardwalk and the open horizon are at their best.
