A small, calm beach across the bay directly opposite Golfito town, reachable by a short water-taxi ride (10 minutes, runs all day) or a longer drive around. Playa Cacao is quieter than Zancudo, with a handful of small lodges, a couple of beach bars, and good views back across the harbour to Golfito and the wildlife refuge ridge above.
The water is warm and gentle. Not a swimming beach for everyone — there is some debris washed in from the harbour — but a pleasant afternoon escape from the town.
