Golfito sits in some of the most productive billfish water in the world. Marlin (blue, black, and striped), sailfish, tuna, dorado, and roosterfish are all taken regularly; the inshore action for snook and pargo is equally good. The peak season is December to April for sails, August to October for blue marlin.
Several charter operators work out of the Banana Bay Marina. Day trips run around US$1,500–2,000 per boat in 2024 prices; longer trips can be arranged. Almost all serious operators are catch-and-release for billfish.
