Spirogyra Butterfly Garden is a small enclosed butterfly habitat on the edge of Barrio Amón, with trails through a patch of green that feels surprisingly removed from central San José. It is not a grand attraction, but it is a pleasant stop if you want a low-key nature break close to the museums and historic centre.
The paths outside the enclosure can get muddy in the rainy season, so wear shoes that can cope with wet ground.
