The municipal museum occupies a handsome 1920s wooden summer villa on Calle 57, close to the main beach. The collection is modest — period furniture, photographs, documents, and objects relating to Varadero's pre-revolutionary history — but the building itself is the attraction. It's one of the few wooden structures from the original Cuban resort era still standing on the peninsula.
Entry is cheap and the visit takes about 30 minutes. The staff are usually willing to explain the exhibits in Spanish.
