Santa Elvira Church

A modest Catholic church from 1938 that stands out for its unusual construction: built from local stones and timber rather than brick or concrete, with a distinctive horseshoe-arch bell tower — a Moorish-influenced design rare in Cuban church architecture. It sits in the older residential part of Varadero town, away from the resort strip.

The interior is simple and cool, with whitewashed walls and stained glass that filters the afternoon light pleasantly. It remains an active parish church serving the Cuban residents of Varadero town.
