Pearl's Cuisine

Long-running Creole canteen above the town

Address King George V Street, Roseau

Pearl's Cuisine is the kind of small upstairs canteen that residents send visitors to when they ask where to actually eat in town. The hot table changes daily with whatever the cook felt like: stewed goat, fish broth, baked chicken with provisions, plantain, dasheen leaves cooked down as callaloo. Portions are generous and the prices are firmly local.

Service is brisk and the dining room is functional — laminated tables, a fan in the corner — but the food is the point. Open lunchtimes only on weekdays; closed weekends.
