Zona Rosa is the upmarket commercial and entertainment district of San Salvador, covering the area around Boulevard del Hipódromo and the streets south of Boulevard Los Héroes. It has the densest concentration of restaurants, bars, and shopping in the city, along with a number of international hotels. The streets are reasonably safe for walking in the day and early evening.
The neighbourhood has a different feel from the chaotic historic centre — cleaner, more international, more expensive. It is where most tourists and business visitors end up spending their evenings. The adjacent Colonia San Benito has a similar character and is where many embassies and upmarket residences are located.
