Miraflores Museum

Archaeology museum beside the remains of ancient Kaminaljuyú.

Miraflores Museum explains Kaminaljuyú, the great Maya city that once spread across this part of the Guatemala City valley. The modern city has swallowed much of the ancient landscape, so the museum is valuable because it gives shape to what is otherwise easy to miss.

The collection includes ceramics, sculpture, and models that connect the surviving mounds with a much larger urban story. It is a strong companion to the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, especially if you want local context rather than only the famous sites farther afield.
