Getting Around

Roatan has one main road running the length of the island, which makes navigation straightforward. Minibuses (colectivos) run between the main towns and are the cheapest option, though they stop running in the early evening. Taxis are plentiful and fares are negotiable — agree on the price before you get in.

Water taxis connect West End, West Bay, and other coastal spots, and are often faster and more scenic than driving. For more freedom, scooter and car rentals are available in West End and Coxen Hole, though the roads can be rough outside the main route. Ask locals for directions if you head into the hills — signage is sparse once you leave the main road.
