Sundowners

Open-air beach bar at the north end of West End — the sunset spot

Sundowners is the default sunset bar in West End: a wooden, open-sided structure on the sand at the north end of the village, swing seats, a long bar pouring rum drinks and cold beer, and a stretch of sea wall to lean on while the sun does what the bar is named for.

The crowd is a mix of dive instructors at the end of shift, backpackers, and the occasional charter-boat captain. Friday is the busy night. Food is basic — burgers, nachos, fish tacos — and incidental to the drinks. Drop in at 5:30 and stay as long as the night does.
