Biblioteca de México José Vasconcelos

Biblioteca de México José Vasconcelos occupies the old tobacco factory at La Ciudadela, a short walk west of the historic centre. It is one of the city's major public libraries, with calm courtyards and rooms arranged around collections donated by Mexican writers and intellectuals.

Do not confuse it with the newer Biblioteca Vasconcelos near Buenavista station. This one is older, quieter, and more atmospheric, useful both as a reading space and as a gentle architectural stop while moving between Centro and Juárez.
