Museo Universitario del Chopo is a contemporary art museum in Santa Maria la Ribera, housed in a striking iron-and-glass structure from the early 20th century. Managed by UNAM, it focuses on experimental art, photography, performance, music, and countercultural exhibitions.
The building is half the appeal: its industrial frame gives the galleries a very different mood from Mexico City's colonial and palace museums. Combine it with Biblioteca Vasconcelos or the nearby Kiosco Morisco.
