Playa del Carmen's town centre is walkable. Quinta Avenida and the beach are parallel and close together; everything of interest is within a few blocks. Taxis are available throughout town — agree on a fare before getting in, as meters are often not used. Colectivos (shared minivans) run north along Highway 307 toward Cancun and south toward Tulum for very low fares; they depart from the bus station area. The main ADO bus terminal has comfortable services to Cancun, Tulum, Chichén Itzá, and Mérida.
