Quinta Avenida has a dense run of shops selling Mexican handicrafts, silver jewellery, clothing, hammocks, Cuban cigars, and tourist souvenirs. Prices on the avenue are significantly higher than on the parallel side streets; for the same goods at half the price, walk one or two blocks east or west. Genuine Mexican crafts — Talavera pottery, huipiles, woven textiles — can be found but are mixed in with mass-produced tourist goods; be selective.
