The Palacio — locally just el Palacio — is the indoor arena of Mayagüez, opened in 1981 and renovated for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. It seats around 11,000 and hosts the Indios de Mayagüez basketball team, concerts, boxing nights, and the occasional political rally.
There is nothing to see when nothing is on. But if a game or concert lines up with your visit, the atmosphere is exuberant — los Indios are one of the most fanatically supported teams in the Puerto Rican basketball league.
