A day in Mayagüez has a natural shape: a morning around Plaza Colón looking at the cathedral, city hall and Teatro Yagüez; lunch in the centre; an afternoon at the zoo or the tropical botanical garden; then back into town for dinner and a beer at the original India brewery. If you have a second day, the west-coast beaches and surf breaks at Rincón are half an hour up the coast.
