Ocean Park is the residential beach neighbourhood between Condado and Isla Verde — low-rise, leafy, mostly small guesthouses and short-term rentals rather than big hotels. The beach is the same Atlantic strand that runs east from Condado but the crowd is more local than tourist, and the surf is consistent enough that the windsurfing and kitesurfing schools cluster here.
The strip on Calle Loíza, a block inland, has been the most interesting dining and bar scene in San Juan for the past few years. Stay in Ocean Park if you want a quieter, more residential base than Condado but better beach access than Old San Juan.
