Isla Verde Beach is the longest, widest, and generally best beach in the San Juan metropolitan area — over two kilometres of soft white sand with low dunes, palm trees, and a steady offshore breeze. The bigger resort hotels (El San Juan, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott) line the back of the beach but the sand itself is public.
Conditions are usually safer for swimming than Condado, though the surf can pick up in winter. The central section near the El San Juan is the most polished, with lifeguards, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and beach bars. The eastern end towards Punta Las Marías is quieter. There are public access points between the hotels — look for the wooden walkways.
