Iglesia San Francisco

A 1756 Franciscan church on Calle San Francisco — a single-nave building with a baroque façade and three altars inside, the central one of polished mahogany. It is the parish church most actively used by the residents of the old city, which gives it a livelier feel than the cathedral.

The plaza outside, Plaza San Francisco, is a small triangular space that catches morning light. The most-visited time is the saint's day in October, but the church is open most mornings and worth a five-minute look if you are walking the Calle San Francisco strip.
