Apalachicola Maritime Museum

A working museum on the waterfront that focuses on the wooden boats and small craft of the Apalachicola River and Gulf coast. The collection includes restored skipjacks, oyster tongers' skiffs, and a replica of the schooner Governor Stone, the oldest sail-powered cargo vessel in the south before she was lost in Hurricane Michael in 2018.

The museum runs eco-tours and sailing trips on the bay aboard the Heritage of Apalachicola, a 38-foot schooner, and offers sailing lessons. Worth combining with a walk along Riverfront Park, where the shrimp fleet still moors. Admission to the museum itself is modest; boat trips are extra and worth booking ahead.
