SunFest has run on the downtown waterfront most years since 1982, taking over Flagler Drive for five days at the start of May. The format is straightforward: half a dozen stages along the Intracoastal, a mix of national headline acts and regional bands, an art fair, food trucks, and fireworks on the closing night. Crowds run to a quarter of a million over the weekend.
It is one of the better-organised mid-size US music festivals — pleasant weather (early May), a real city setting, manageable size. Tickets are required for entry. The weekend pass sells out; weekday passes usually do not.
