Bars and Cafes

Savannah has a uniquely relaxed bar scene — open-container laws allow you to carry drinks on the street in the historic district, which gives the city a convivial, almost European atmosphere on warm evenings.

River Street is the main tourist bar strip, lined with restaurants and bars in renovated cotton warehouses. It gets crowded on weekends but is fun for a first evening. City Market, a few blocks inland, is more manageable. For a quieter drink, the bars around Forsyth Park and the Starland District attract more locals.
