Moon River Brewing occupies the old City Hotel building on Bay Street, one of the oldest surviving hotel structures in the country (built 1821). The brewery produces its own ales and lagers on site — the Indian Pale Ale and the seasonal ales are the most reliable. The food menu leans toward pub fare: burgers, sandwiches, and a few Southern-inflected dishes.
The building has a reputation as one of Savannah's most haunted sites, which the brewery leans into with ghost tour connections and a certain atmospheric darkness in the lower levels. Worth a visit for the setting and the house beers even if you're skeptical of the ghost stories.
