Founded in 2001, this is — somewhat improbably — America's first Muslim museum, sitting on the second floor of the Mississippi Arts Center. It covers the history of Islamic civilisations, from the gold-rich West African empires of Mali and Songhai to the scientific contributions of the medieval Islamic world.
The space is small and the exhibits modest, but it is one of the more unusual things to do in Jackson and worth half an hour. Tickets are inexpensive.
