A surprisingly large state park inside the Jackson city limits, named for the French-Canadian trader Louis LeFleur who set up the trading post that became the city. It has a small lake, a nine-hole golf course, picnic shelters, and several miles of woodland trails.
It is also where the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science sits — worth combining the two on a half-day if you have kids in tow.
