Mill Hill is Trenton's most intact historic neighbourhood, a grid of Federal and Victorian rowhouses on the southern edge of downtown. The area fell into disrepair through the mid-20th century but was rescued by a community preservation effort starting in the 1970s — today the streets around Jackson and Montgomery are lined with well-maintained 18th and 19th-century houses that look much as they did 150 years ago.
It is the most pleasant part of Trenton to walk through: quiet residential streets, a small park, and proximity to the Old Barracks and the State House. The neighbourhood is small enough to cover on foot in an hour.
