For a village of 2,500 people, Skaneateles has an unusually deep eating scene — a legacy of being a prosperous summer destination since the 19th century. The two anchors are Doug's Fish Fry for casual lake-fish lunch and the Sherwood Inn dining room for a fancier sit-down dinner; in between are a handful of cafes, gastropubs and tasting-menu spots along Genesee Street.
