The Saturday Market has run every Saturday from early April through the Saturday before Christmas since 1970, making it the oldest weekly open-air crafts market in the United States. It fills the Park Blocks at 8th and Oak — and spills out from there — with about 200 vendors of locally made crafts, prepared food, and a constant rotation of live music on the central stage.
The clientele is Eugene at its most Eugene: tie-dye, drum circles, dogs, dreadlocks, the smell of incense and kettle corn. Even if you have no intention of buying a hand-thrown mug or a tarot reading, it is a good hour to people-watch and eat your way along the food line. The neighbouring Lane County Farmers Market (Tuesdays and Saturdays in season) shares the block.
