Grants Pass City Hall and Fire Station

Renaissance Revival civic building from 1916

The 1916 city hall and fire station is the most interesting civic building downtown. Built in a Renaissance Revival style of red brick and tan stone, it housed the city offices, the fire department, and the jail under one roof — a common arrangement for small American cities of the period.

It is still in use, though much of the fire equipment has long since moved to a larger station elsewhere. The original alarm bell sits on a plinth out front.
