The Redwoods is a three-storey Mission Revival building put up in 1907 to serve passengers off the Southern Pacific railroad and travellers heading down the Redwood Highway. The white stucco walls, red-tile roof, and arched verandah look like something transplanted from southern California, and they are — the style was unusual in Oregon at the time.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and still operates as a hotel, though under a different name on the marquee. Even if you are not staying, it is worth a look on the way between downtown and the river.
