About fifteen minutes west of Grants Pass, Wildlife Images is a working rehabilitation centre for injured and orphaned native wildlife. Animals that cannot be returned to the wild stay on as permanent residents, and the centre runs guided tours showing them off: black bears, cougars, bald eagles, owls, and a couple of Rocky Mountain elk.
It's a small operation rather than a polished zoo, but it has been doing genuine conservation work since 1981 and the staff are knowledgeable and personable. Children love it. Tours run on a roughly hourly schedule and bookings are encouraged on summer weekends.
