The jumble of huge boulders at the foot of Little Round Top — a natural fortress that Confederate sharpshooters used to fire on Union positions above. The most famous Civil War photographs, including Alexander Gardner's "Home of a Rebel Sharpshooter," were taken among these rocks.
The boulders are climbable and the views back toward Little Round Top are excellent. The Confederate body in Gardner's photograph was probably moved into a better position for the camera — the picture is a Civil War-era piece of fake news, debated for over a century.
