The Providence Performing Arts Center is a restored 1928 Loew's movie palace in downtown Providence. Its appeal is partly the programming, but the building itself is the reason to notice it: a grand surviving example of the ornate theatre architecture built for early 20th-century cinema.
It hosts touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedy, and local performances. Check the schedule if you want to see the interior in use; even from outside, it is one of the stronger historic facades along Weybosset Street.
