Capitol Theatre

Built in 1928 as a vaudeville and movie palace, the Capitol Theatre on South Main Street is the most ornate single building downtown. The Spanish Revival facade and the original interior plasterwork survived almost intact through decades of decline, and it now hosts the Aberdeen Community Theatre's productions plus occasional touring acts.

If you can get inside during a performance, do — the ceiling and proscenium are worth the price of admission on their own. Check the ACT schedule; community productions are inexpensive and the audience is warmly local.
