A compact district of restored early-twentieth-century houses perched on the limestone bluff above the river. The Hunter Museum is the anchor; around it are private galleries, the River Gallery Sculpture Garden, a coffee house, an Italian restaurant, and a French bistro all run by a single family-owned operator.
The footprint is tiny — three or four blocks — but the cluster of restored brick and stone buildings, the gardens above the river, and the connecting walkways make it the most atmospheric corner of the city. Walk through it on the way to or from the Walnut Street Bridge.
