The Contemporary Austin's downtown site presents changing exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. The programme is broad and approachable, with public events and education work alongside the galleries.
It is a good central stop if you want Austin's art scene without leaving downtown. Check what is on before going, as the experience depends heavily on the current exhibition.
