The Ogden Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stands prominently above the city on Washington Boulevard, its clean white modernist lines a deliberate departure from the Gothic and neoclassical templates of earlier temples. Originally opened in 1972 and fully rebuilt and rededicated in 2014, the current structure has a sleek, almost corporate grandeur — a white monolith topped with a single spire.
Non-members cannot enter the temple, but the grounds are open and offer a close-up view of the exterior. The neighbouring Tabernacle, a 19th-century meeting house that does admit visitors, provides a sense of the older Mormon architectural tradition by contrast. The temple grounds are well maintained and the views back down into the city are good.
