Rock Canyon cuts into the mountains above Provo and is one of the city's most accessible outdoor escapes. The trail climbs quickly from the edge of town into limestone cliffs, scrub oak and views back over Utah Valley.
Hikers can use it for a short out-and-back or connect to longer mountain routes, while climbers know the canyon for its routes on both sides of the trail. Bring water and watch conditions, since shade and snow vary sharply by season.
