A 3,420-foot peak at the western edge of the Wilmington town boundary, Haystack Mountain has a long hiking trail starting from the Chimney Hill development that leads to a small summit pond and good views east toward Mount Snow. The lower slopes were once a small ski area, later run as a private club.
The trail is about three miles round trip, mostly moderate climbing through hardwood forest. Especially good for autumn foliage hikes.
