Mount Snow

Mount Snow is the closest major ski area to New York and Boston — a 3,600-foot peak with 80 trails spread over 600 acres, served by lifts that include the Bluebird Express, the first six-passenger bubble chair in North America. The terrain is best for intermediates; the Carinthia side of the mountain has one of the largest dedicated terrain parks in the east.

In summer, lift-served mountain biking opens up Carinthia and the main face, and there's a popular 18-hole golf course at the base. The resort sits ten minutes north of Wilmington village in West Dover.

A story
Mount Snow was developed in the 1950s by Walter Schoenknecht, who wanted to bring big-mountain skiing to southern New England. He installed the first US gondola lift, the first heated outdoor pool at a ski resort, and an indoor heated bubble called the 'Snow Lake Lodge' — innovations that defined the modern destination ski resort.
