U.S. Army Transportation Museum

Every vehicle the US Army has ever moved with, from mule wagons to Hueys, on Fort Eustis

Tucked away on Fort Eustis at the north end of Newport News, this is the official museum of the US Army's Transportation Corps. The collection covers every way the Army has ever moved people, goods or itself: a Civil War rail car, a World War I horse-drawn ambulance, the various trucks of the Red Ball Express, a Korean-War M76 Otter amphibian, a Vietnam-era Huey and Chinook, and several experimental hovercraft and flying jeeps that never went into service.

The outdoor yard has the largest exhibits including locomotives, landing craft, and the world's largest army truck. It is free, but you need a valid ID to enter the base — check the museum website for current access procedures, which change with security postures.
