Home to Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, the 23 de Agosto stadium sits south of the city centre and holds around 24,000 spectators. The nickname — La Tacita de Plata, the little silver cup — refers to its compact shape and the silver-grey tones of the stands. The club has bounced between the top tiers of Argentine football; a match here on a derby weekend is genuinely loud.
The stadium also hosts the occasional concert and provincial event. It is named for 23 August 1812, the date of Belgrano's evacuation of the city ahead of advancing Spanish royalists — the Éxodo Jujeño, a foundational moment in the province's identity.
