The cathedral church of Pereira, on the western side of Plaza de Bolivar. The current building dates from the 1950s rebuild after the 1949 earthquake destroyed much of the previous structure. From the square it looks unassuming, but the interior is worth a look — the high vaulted ceiling is made entirely of laminated wood, an unusual choice in a country where most cathedral interiors are stone and plaster.
It serves as the seat of the Diocese of Pereira and is busiest at the Sunday morning masses. Stop in for ten minutes when you are already on the square.
