Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

Mountain hot springs with waterfalls, an hour's drive from Pereira

A complex of natural hot-spring pools below a tall waterfall, about an hour east of Pereira on the road into the Cordillera Central. The water emerges from the ground at over 70°C and is cooled into a series of pools at different temperatures, ranging from a comfortable 38°C up to lobster-pot levels.

There are two main resorts: Termales Santa Rosa (the original, larger and more touristy) and the smaller, more atmospheric Termales San Vicente, deeper in the valley. Both are popular weekend trips for Pereirans, so come midweek if you want quiet. Many Pereira hotels organise day trips that include transport and a swimsuit-friendly buffet lunch.

A story
The springs sit at 1,950 metres at the foot of a tall waterfall fed by glacier melt from the Nevado de Santa Isabel. The cold cascade lands in a pool right beside the steaming baths, so swimmers alternate between the two — the local cure-all.
