A tiny coral islet fifteen minutes by boat from the main town, Johnny Cay is fringed with white sand and shaded by coconut palms. The beach on the northern side is postcard perfect and the snorkelling off the reef is good. Day-trip boats arrive mid-morning and the cay fills up; if you want it quiet, take the first boat out and stay until the crowds clear in the afternoon. Bring your own food and water — what's on the island is limited and expensive.
