The Flor de Venezuela is a steel-and-fabric pavilion shaped like a giant flower, with sixteen articulated petals that open and close in response to weather and motors. When fully open it stretches more than 60 metres across, sheltering a circular plaza beneath. Each petal is decorated with images representing a different aspect of the country — landscapes, peoples, products.
It sits on Avenida Venezuela on the eastern side of the city and is best visited late in the afternoon when the petals are usually deployed and the light is good for photographs. The surrounding park gets busy with families on weekends.
