Boa Vista's main draw is its coastline — enormous beaches, often completely empty, with white sand and Atlantic breakers. Away from the coast, the island has a haunting interior: volcanic peaks, shifting dune fields, and abandoned villages. Water sports are excellent, turtles nest here in large numbers, and the flat terrain makes for rewarding exploration by quad bike or 4WD.
