Libreville's sprawling central market is one of the great markets of Central Africa. Stalls selling smoked fish, tropical fruit, fabric, traditional medicines, and bushmeat stretch across several blocks. Come in the morning when the market is at its busiest. The noise, the smells, the colour of it all give you a better sense of Gabonese daily life than anything else in the capital.
Keep your valuables secure, as pickpockets are active. Prices are generally fair, but bargaining is expected.
