Plage des Mamelles is a sandy beach below the Mamelles lighthouse, on Dakar's western peninsula. It is popular for sunsets and for a quick break from the city, with Atlantic surf rolling in below the headland.
The waves can be strong, so treat it more as a scenic beach stop than an easy swimming beach unless conditions are calm.
